Love Thy Neighbor

It's been interesting watching the news and seeing all the clean-up go on. The mayor of Houston asked us all to help each other out, and that has been happening. As people were cleaning up in my mom's neighborhood, there were no boundaries between yards. Everyone helped rake and sweep and haul branches. As I drove home, I crossed over several extension cords. People on one side of the street had power, so they were helping to supply power to those across the street without it. I passed a woman carrying a bucket of ice across the street. My side of the street has power, but those across the street are still without it. So, there's an extension cord coming out of my garage, and somewhere on the other end, a fan is blowing.

Yes, this storm has been devastating, but it really is bringing out the best in people. Am I glad there is no school today or tomorrow? Of course! But I'm happy I can help those in need.

How wonderful to hear! Makes me think we should be nicer to our neighbors before we are compelled to. (:
